Last night, I got a comment on my slaskia.deviantart.com/art/The… piece that someone used the line art from the published version of the piece in their own piece, but only mentioned where they got it from, not who actually did the art (me). I contacted her, mentioning that she really should have asked for permission first and that finding it on a wikia does not mean it's 'free to use'. Then I went to bed...as it was late.
When I logged in this morning, I found a reply from her being all apologetic and that she wants to give me proper credit (which is fine). I went to comment that her apology was accepted and how to give me proper credit, while noting that it was modified by her...only to find out that she blocked me and hid my comment (and no, she didn't give me proper credit)! I admit I was slightly hostile in tone with my initial comment, hindsight I should have worded it better, but now I'm not sure what to do.
I've never posted the original line art on here due to the fact it was sent in for a contest (that I won) and is now published material in a book (Halo: Evolutions Vol 2) owned by 343. Because of that and the fact it was modified (colored) by this person gives me the gut feeling that DA won't lift a finger.
I just want proper credit for my work, though I admittedly don't know my legal standing due to what I mentioned above.
Edit: OK, she gave me credit. So I guess this journal is moot.
