Looong time ago, back in 2010, perhaps even 2009 *doesn't remember*, I started working on this short comic: some of you likely remember the comic panel teasers and WIP pages I posted on here. Unfortunately, due to running out of steam/motivation/[insert excuse here], it never got finished and likely never will be considering it's been nearly 3 years since I last touched this thing (Jan '11, to be exact). This is mostly due to how my style/technique have changed since then: if I ever do decide to try to finish this thing it will likely be a complete redo (especially since I'm not fond of some of the design decisions I made back then).
Two of the pages though, 3 and 4 to be exact, were pretty much finished save for text, so I decided to put the text in and post them here (especially since 3 and 4 contain most of the meat of the comic itself). I was also fortunate that I had the text typed in on a 'mock up' layer, as the fic this comic was based on I lost when my harddrive died last year (along with so many other WIP fics *cries*). Some context is lost due to the missing unfinished pages, though pages 1 and 2 were textless chase sequence save for the last couple of panels on pg 2.
Some quick explanation stuff:
Red-brown Sangheili is Wohi 'Begor, while the other Sangheili is Joran, whom has been featured before in both fic and pic (Zendou: Duel Hearts for the former, slaskia.deviantart.com/art/Jor… for the latter). Joran is a Hashin, bounty hunter, basically. Unfortunately, I don't remember what 'koturn' means anymore (if I kept notes on it's meaning, it was lost with the fic): likely means 'criminal' or something similar though, considering the context. Also, comic takes place before Henun becomes Joran's partner, btw.
PS, third part of Traviss Halo trilogy should be out in a few days. I preordered it even though I swore I wouldn't. But what the heck, might as well read it since I've read the previous two novels.
I have soo many projects in my WIP folder I don't have finished for the same reason .
Seriously? I knew it was coming early this year, but since I stopped going to Halo related sites due to how the community was acting, I forgot exactly when. *runs off to Amazon to get her pre-order in*
Yep, I picked mine up from the mailbox today. Actually, it was sent off already on Friday somehow but I wasn't able to get it until today. I'll start reading tonight. Hope you got your copy all right.
Mine is being shipped right now: should get it tomorrow.
From the book description though on Amazon...it seems like there's no focus at all on the Sangheili side of things like with the first two books. Guess we'll have to wait and see if that is the case...if not, not sure how much I'll be able to read, as I tended to not give too shits about the human side (at least in the case of the Cole Protocol). So far though, with both Glasslands and Thursday War I read it the whole way through....
Oh wow, I actually didn't read any descriptions, like to stay un-spoiled. Seems odd though. Didn't the second novel end with Jul escaping through some kind of portal? Would be really odd if we don't get to see what happens to him at the other end so to speak.
And yes, I'm not too fascinated with the ONI dudes or the Spartans either, I guess those parts were a necessary evil.
Have you heard anything about the next Halo game at all by the way? I haven't heard much and I'm not planning on getting an Xbox 1 for years if I can help it, so it won't really matter that much. Mostly curious whether or not there will be Sangheili in the game.
To be fair, there's not really much more they can do with Jul pre-Halo 3: we already know what he's doing (building a fleet) and it would be kind of pointless to rehash it.
Rumors say the next one will be a lot more 'open', with Chief able to travel between different planets (about 8 if I remember right). I did hear from one source a while back that Chief's 'in hiding', but searching for some thing (if the sub-title of the game is 'the search for cortana' I'm going to smack 343 for the blatant Star Trek reference).
(Bit of a spoiler for the book but a minor one the first chapter made me lol.
Apparently the bad guys are Swedish, ha ha, and mention 'surströmming' (fermented herring). They've got the right idea though, it stinks like high heaven! Usually it's consumed with slices of raw onion, which makes people stink even more afterwards, lol, and a wrap-around bread. I wouldn't touch that dish with a hundred-foot pole let me tell you. There's a three minute walk from my mom's house to my aunt's and uncle's house, and when they're eating that herring, I can smell it down here if the winds are right. No kidding.
Oh wow, that sounds a bit different. All I heard is that it won't be a direct successor to Halo 4. Ha ha! Me and mom have just recently been watching the Star Trek movies, including The search for Spock.
All right, thanks a lot for that info.
