..And colored. Not completely happy with it (but then, an artist rarely is with his/her own work no? We are our own worse critics after all). Plus, I always struggle more with highlights than shadows....

Aw sweet! And of course we want to look at you, gorgeous! ;)

I really love how neat you made the body fuse to the cowl there! I'm still having a ton of trouble with that, sigh. Beautiful colony markings as well. :)

Now if only we had an 'official' database of what markings belong to what colony...we only know of one (Palaven).

Exactly! I think this is the one, most frustrating part of turian fandom, not even knowing that ... And even the Palaven markings ... do they come in different colours at all? For being the turian homeworld, I find it curious that we only ever see a single turian wearing those marks. Well, there's Garrus' dad in the Homeworlds comic so I guess that makes it two .. but shouldn't we see lots and lots of them?

The most frequent markings I think, are the ones sported by Sidonis. I've seen many turians wearing those.

And Nilihlis' markings...I've notices a lot of turians seem to have bits and pieces of his.

Indeed, I always wondered if those partly similar markings mean the worlds are either neighbours or otherwise linked to each other. It very well might be that way.

I was thinking about the colours though, I'd have to guess, looking at the few examples there are that they are set in a standard colour for each planet/colony. White, blue, red etc. I think I'll stick to that in the future.

You know about this site, right? Very helpful when designing markings. :) [link]

I'm thinking parental influences myself: if parents are from different coloneys, the kid has the option of 'merging' the markings from both if he wishes (or use one over the other: Cy for instance, uses his mother's coloney markings exclusively).

No idea on colors myself...though I do wonder if maybe it could be related to citizenship teir? I noticed all C-Sec turians had blue markings if I remember right, for instance. Though that may not be right as Garrus went way up in the teirs and his marking colors didn't change (though that would be so he would recongizable). It's still unclear if those markings are actual tattoos or they paint them on every morning (what happened to Garrus seems to suggest tattoos...as he never did 'redo' them after getting half is face blown off).

Oh yes, I know about that site...or at least one very similar to it. The imagines seem bigger on this one. Either way I need to bookmark it....*does that now*

Aaaah, that's brilliant! I never even thought of that myself. :)

Hm, well that's also an interesting idea. I've read some nice ideas in the same direction, that young children or even babies might have a simplified version of the adult markings. That would make sense since I picture their faces (and fringes etc) would have totally different proportions and be a lot smaller than on an adult.

Ha ha, I was reading this really awesome fic last week by the way, explaining how every basic training recruit was given a uniform of a certain colour depending on his or her background and skills. And there were a select few blue ones. As it turned out, and as Garrus learned, the blue ones were exclusively presented to those recruits asking what the colours meant. :D

Yes I think you prove the point nicely both about the tier thing and whether or not they're tatoos or just applied paint. No idea how you tattoo bone in the frist place, perhaps it's more like etching? And I'm quite sure the ME codex on turians uses the word 'tattoo' somewhere, or at least an official BioWare source somewhere does.

Right, it's really neat, I spend a lot of time there just admiring the markings and the faces. :)

Well, after looking through that database again I realized I was wrong: C-Sec guys have different colorsf or their markings. So I'm back to square one there. I did have the idea that some markings/colors may indicate who they are affliated with/loyal too. In the Omega DLC I noticed all Nyreen's Talons had red markings, including her, for instance (I did not notice however if all the turians had the same marking 'shape', however). So I had the thought that, at least with the criminal element, color may be gang related (Masest's tat and color is for the gang/organization he is part of, for instance).

LOL a 'you ask too many questions' uniform!

Well, I don't think tattooing for them is much harder than it is for us, as their carapace isn't really protective against projectiles. In fact, 'carapace' is likely the wrong word to use, as it implies a hard shell, but it's probably best word we have. Tatting the mandible probably would still hurt like a dickens though, depending on what the structure underneath is like (bone, cartilige? *shrug*)

...I've got to say, you really are good at portraying androgynism. :) The gentle and not-so-gentle touches here and there really do give off feminity (that smooth skin of his for example, *wants to touch so badly*) and yet he doesn't completely lose the masculine look. You've really struck quite the balance with Cy, his physical appeal is very well-executed (no sexuality intended) I can't wait to see him in "Buried Secrets." :D
